Changing a Primary Care Physician

Most carriers will allow an enrollee to change their Primary Care Physician (PCP) once per month.

  • Changes will take effect on the first of the next month.
  • The carrier will issue a new Member ID card with the new PCP's name on it once the change has been processed.

This change should be made by the enrollee with the insurance carrier directly. This can be done by calling the insurance carrier's Member Services line. Some carriers may even allow PCP changes in the Members Only area of their website.

While Zenefits asked for a PCP in the enrollment flow during initial sign up or open enrollment, Zenefits does not keep the provider information on file. These changes should be submitted directly to the carrier.
