Switching to True Biweekly (26x) Deductions

While Zenefits can support deducting on 26 pay periods per year, we strongly recommend deducting on 24 of the 26 pay periods, as this is the default behavior of the system and will provide the easiest administrative experience for you and your employees. However, if you do decide to deduct 26x per year, here are a few systematic limitations to be aware of:

  • All deduction amounts will be switched to true biweekly, including benefits that are usually elected using a monthly amount, i.e., Commuter Benefits and HSA.
  • Since monthly election amounts will be deducted on a bi-weekly basis following the change, our Zenefits Flex Benefits team needs to be contacted to make these manual adjustments in our FSA and HSA administration system.  If this step is not taken, there will be mismatches between employee deductions and account funding.
  • Since monthly election amounts will be deducted on a bi-weekly basis, it will be necessary for administrators to make manual adjustments should an employee change their HSA election mid-month, leave the company mid-month, join the benefits plan mid-month, etc.
  • Making this change will wipe out any pending deduction adjustments, so please ensure any pending adjustments have been approved/rejected prior to making the request.
