What happens to my previous payroll provider once I'm on Zenefits Payroll?

After you've successfully run payroll with Zenefits, you'll need to cancel service with your previous payroll provider. Zenefits cannot do this for you, but there's a few things that will help make the process simpler.

Letter for payroll cancellation

To make things easier, Zenefits has created a form letter for you to use when canceling service with your previous payroll provider.


SUBJECT: Termination of payroll services effective today [DATE]

Dear [FORMER PAYROLL PROVIDER] Representative,

Please accept this letter as written confirmation that [YOUR COMPANY NAME ]'s last check date with [FORMER PAYROLL PROVIDER] was [LAST CHECK DATE WITH FORMER PAYROLL PROVIDER].

Please see important information about [YOUR COMPANY NAME ]'s request below:

  • Please continue to pay any unpaid tax liabilities that are currently scheduled to be paid within the next 10 days.
  • Please refund for any unpaid tax liabilities that are not scheduled to be paid within the next 10 days directly to [YOUR COMPANY NAME].
  • Please make available [YOUR COMPANY NAME ]'s quarter-to-date and year-to-date reports for this calendar year.
  • Please do not cancel any other services provided to [YOUR COMPANY NAME] (if applicable).
