California Waiting Period Bill SB 1034

As of January 1, 2015, the state of California has conformed their regulations to that of the ACA regarding waiting periods. The state of California no longer has a limit of a 60 day waiting period and permits employers to impose a maximum 90 day waiting period to be in alignment with the federal mandate.

The state of California previously did not comply with the waiting/probationary period set forth by the federal government in the Affordable Care Act (January 1, 2014). The CA regulations had a maximum waiting period of 60 days, whereas the federal regulation maxed at 90 days.
