Form 1096 is used to summarize and file one or more paper Forms 1099 to the IRS. For example, a company that paid three contractors in a tax year will submit all three Forms 1099 with a single Form 1096. However, a Form 1096 is not required when filing Forms 1099 electronically. Because Zenefits files electronically, we will not provide you with Form 1096.
