Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act (CHIPRA) Notice

The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) (part of Medicaid), provides insurance coverage in states that administer it to uninsured children up to age 19 in families with incomes too high to qualify them for Medicaid. Employers are required to provide an annual notice to employees of the potential opportunities available for premium assistance under Medicaid or CHIP for health coverage in the State in which the employee resides.

Employers must provide the CHIPRAnotice annually by the first day of the plan year. Employers may satisfy this disclosure requirement by including the CHIPRA notice along with open enrollment materials.

Learn more about CHIPRA, and see an example of the notice itself.
