Pediatric Dental Coverage

Under the Affordable Care Act, dental insurance is treated differently for adults and children 18 and under, as dental coverage for children is an Essential Health Benefit (EHB).

Dental coverage must be available for child dependents that are 18 years old or younger either as a part of the health insurance plan or via a stand-alone plan.

Insurers do not have to offer adult dental coverage as dental coverage is not an EHB for adults.
