What is Compensation Management?

Get started anytime you want by clicking into the Compensation Management app on your dashboard. You'll be taken through a setup flow where you'll set up job mapping and other settings based on your company's compensation philosophy.

A compensation philosophy is a formal way of thinking about the way your company compensates its workers. Your company's philosophy can be influenced by many factors, including competitiveness of the local market, experience, and culture.

The Overview page of Compensation Management has the following displays:

  • Company Metrics: how your company pays in comparison to the market based on job family or experience level
  • Salary Metrics: how your company's salaries compare to the market based on location
  • Salary Ranges: a chart displaying the names, titles, experience levels, departments, locations, actual salaries, median salaries, and any differences between the last two fields.

The Zenefits Compensation Management tool maps your job titles to a standardized title using our advanced analytics algorithms, but you can change the mappings at any time as needed.

  1. Click on the Settings tab from the Compensation Management app.
  2. Click on Job Mapping from the left hand menu.
  3. To edit, click the pencil icon on any of the job mapping lines.
  4. Click Map Job to type the job title into the search bar, or click Need help deciding which title to choose? Explore our titles.
If you can't find the right job title, don't worry--you can map the title to the closest title that has the most similar job description.

The Zenefits Compensation Management tool provides an industry and sub-industry mapping for every company.

  • You'll have the option to change the industry mapping during the Compensation Management setup flow.
  • If you'd like to change the industry mapping after completing the Compensation Management, please contact Zenefits Customer Care, and one of our representatives would be happy to assist you further.

No, it is not possible to include someone's information who is not already in Zenefits. Compensation Management uses data from the Directory, so it wouldn't be possible to exclusively add someone for the Compensation Management tool alone.
